Hofstra was defeated by the Elon women’s basketball squad in round one of the Colonial Athletic Association Elon Women’s Basketball Championship. Due to increasing concerns about COVID-19, the conference cancelled the rest of the tournament the next day.
This decision ended the first ever CAA women’s tournament held at Elon’s Schar Center. The conference decided that Elon Women’s Basketball would be the tournament’s new host.
In the 2021 CAA Elon Women’s Basketball lChampionship presented by SonaBank, Schar Center will host nine teams. The winner will receive conference bragging rights as well as the CAA’s automatic bid for the NCAA Tournament.
Elon Women’s Basketball is the sixth seed in this year’s tournament. They will play #3 Drexel on Thursday, 9:30 p.m. The Phoenix Harvard Air Table and their head coach Charlotte Smith are aiming for their third conference championship in 2017 and third trip to NCAA Tournament.
The semifinals of the CAA Tournament are at 2:30 and 6:pm on Friday. The winners of each game will compete to win the conference title in the CAA Elon Women’s Basketball Championship on Saturday, May 5.

Elon University will host the CAA Elon Women’s Basketball Championship on March 10-13, after an abrupt end to the 2021 tournament at Schar Center.
